Long Live the Kings
From AAA World
Elvis Presley fans in the Mid-Atlantic need not be “lonesome tonight”—or, at least, not for one weekend.
Total attendance is expected to approach 2,000 at Lithuanian Hall in Baltimore for the 11th annual Night of
100 Elvises, a two-day celebration set for December 3–4 (just over a month before what would have been the
King’s 70th birthday).
The top attraction is the hall’s main ballroom, where a succession of Elvis impersonators and tribute bands
will perform all Elvis music, all night, with no song being duplicated. Additional rooms will feature other
Elvis-themed entertainment. A buffet offers Elvis’ favorite foods (including the ever-popular
peanut-butter-and-banana sandwich); returning attractions include an ice sculpture of Presley with his
guitar and Nicolas Cage’s Elvis jumpsuit from Honeymoon in Vegas.
“It’s set up as a party, not a concert,” says Carole Carroll, the event’s co-director. And while you don’t have
to dress up for the event, many attendees do come in retro clothing.
“It’s not just the entertainers who come in the jumpsuits,” Carroll says. “It’s not a costume party, but it
just sort of happens.”
Each year, the attraction has filled the building to capacity, with approximately 300 entertainers on hand
and an additional 600 or more Elvis fans joining in the festivities. The entertainers donate their time and
efforts for the event, and proceeds will go to the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.
To order tickets or for more information, call 888/494-9558 or visit nightof100elvises.com. Due to limited
capacity, Carroll urges anyone interested in attending to purchase tickets ahead of time.
